4 of our Favourite Co-Op games
No matter how much we PC gamers like the solitude of an RPG or the excitement of a fierce shooter, none of it compares to the pleasure of playing collaboratively with pals.
Cooperative gaming has been at the heart of video games from the initial days of the arcades, as creators have consistently sought innovative methods to facilitate this kind of play. Co-op gaming is now more accessible than ever before, thanks to a slew of titles available on various digital platforms.
This brings us to the big question: What games will most effectively unite friends and provide the most thrilling group-based experiences?
Rainbow Six Siege
The exceptional PvP feature of Rainbow Six Siege makes it one of the greatest online multiplayer games available. Despite receiving less attention, this shooter’s cooperative terrorist hunts are equally outstanding. They deploy a group of friends into the terrain to eliminate a score of enemies in very suspenseful, strategic encounters.
Players can go about this game mode in two contests: as attackers, which means you’ll have to hunt down every single hockey-masked criminal, or else by protecting a McGuffin from waves of attackers. Both are well-executed and need the employment of the top Rainbow Six Siege operators with a variety of capabilities. For the most part, these periods are lengthier than the quick multiplayer matches; thus, Siege does offer an equivalent of the meticulous room-clearing of the old Rainbow Six games.
Resident Evil
It was originally planned that the very first game would include co-op elements; however, those plans were later dropped. Nowadays, fans may experience a variety of Resident Evil games with one or more companions, ranging from remakes to major entries.
Resident Evil 5 is widely regarded as the series’ first true co-op title. The game was released in 2009 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms. Although Chris Redfield and Sheva, his new sidekick, were designed with co-op in sight from the start, gamers were still able to play the game on their own, with Sheva serving as AI.
Several popular titles subsequently followed, including Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil Re: Verse, Resident Evil: Revelations 2, and Resident Evil 6. The latter, despite being released back in 2012, remains one of the key games in the series to date. It’s so favored that you can now even find the online slot game Resident Evil: 6 at Casino Gods and Novibet Casino, operators that offer some of the best RTP slots in the UK.
Portal 2
The original Portal deserves its reputation as one of the greatest PC games of all time. Portal 2 did not disappoint fans either, with many hailing its co-op campaign as a stroke of brilliance.
Valve’s brilliant, truly humorous puzzler is highly reputable. And not without cause. Solving puzzles in Portal 2 demands actual collaboration, eliminating the common co-op issue of one player dashing off and finishing the job on his/her own. Although a microphone and a close buddy are ideal, Portal 2 offers a cool voiceless chat function that employs icons and gesturing to enable co-op with others.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
The Halo sequence may feature the most replayable first-person shooter campaigns of all time. Some stages in each game let you roam about in open expanses and take on foes at your leisure.
Take control of a ghost or warthog and meander about the area, running over Covenant opponents as they dart out of the path. Find protection and aim for headshots to breach their shields. Tough challenges are made simpler with a co-op buddy since you may respawn as long as one of you is still breathing.
