The Most Memorable Moments Of The WWE This Year

Regardless of what generation of fan you are/were of the WWE, each and every single year has been able to provide a number of memorable moments.

Indeed, 2022 has been no different, and while we are only halfway through, there has been a tone of moments to have already stood out by a country mile regarding, arguably, the biggest promotion in the entirety of wrestling.

Of course, the WWE has had to be a little more creative and inventive in recent years as they have actually found themselves competing with AEW to remain the number one sports entertainment promotion within the industry. This has, naturally, led to a number of memorable moments being created.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the biggest moments to have happened in 2022 thus far!

2022 Hall of Fame

The 2022 Hall of Fame Ceremony was a memorable moment, as it finally saw The Undertaker be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Known as The Phenom, the iconic wrestler is famed around the world for the character that he managed to portray over a couple of decades, while perhaps being even better known because of his WrestleMania streak.

He managed to go 21-0 at the biggest event on the WWE (and perhaps across the entire sport’s) calendar before he met Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania X*X. As we know, he was defeated in what was a huge shock, thus seeing his streak subsequently be ended in a surprise to everyone but him, Lesnar, and Vince McMahon at the time.

Of course, his induction into the Hall of Fame will be etched into the memory of everyone associated with the WWE, as it is a moment that many had expected to happen; although they may not have banked on it being as emotional as it was.

Cody Rhodes return

Perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets and something that many may have decided was a sure-fire wagering opportunity when sports betting on Unibet Canada, Cody Rhodes returned at WrestleMania 38 after clearly deeming that the grass was not greener in AEW.

Indeed, the son of the late Dusty Rhodes managed to put on an exceptional performance against Seth “Freakin” Rollins, and impressed everyone with his abilities in the ring, six years after making his last appearance for the promotion.

He has since suffered a horrible pectoral muscle tear that will now keep him out for a period of time. While he may not be back in action until 2023 and the Royal Rumble, his initial return is one that many will remember for good reason.

WrestleMania 38 two-day extravaganza

There will be many that will instantly go back to the two-day extravaganza that WrestleMania 38 provided us with earlier in the year. Although it was only in April, there is no doubt that there are a few moments to have stood out from that event.

One that many may remember is the match-up that saw Austin Theory and Pat McAfee tear things up in the ring, with the former NFL punter performing some incredible moves including a hurricanrana, and a superplex off the top rope after he managed to do a flip and land on his feet from the ring corner. Let’s not forget, after McAfee and McMahon fought, Stone Cold provided a stunner to him when they were drinking at the end.

Some will remember the encounter between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to unify the world titles, too. Indeed, WrestleMania 38 provided a number of memorable moments.

Triple H’s retirement

Perhaps not the happiest of memorable moments to have happened in the WWE over the last six months, however it is one that will be remembered for a period of time to come, as it truly did signify the end of an era.

While he still works for the company in a prominent position, Triple H’s in-ring retirement is a poignant moment and one that many will remember. On the second night of WrestleMania 38, he left the ring by leaving a microphone and his wrestling boots in the center; a symbolic gesture that has been done by so many before him and is universally accepted as the end of one’s career.

Final Thoughts

Of course, we can still expect to see plenty more throughout the remainder of the year, but for us, these are just some of those that instantly stand out. We are sure you have many others, though, as this is the nature of the beast that the WWE is, and why so many continue to watch each and every week!
